A register of banned games and identification of gamers may appear in Russia

The Commission of the Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation on Information Policy proposed the creation of a “registry of prohibited computer games”, which will become a kind of analog to the list of extremist materials. TASS writes about this concerning the chairman of the commission and the head of the Legislative Assembly of the Vladimir Region Vladimir Kiselyov.
Thus, officials want to limit the distribution of games that can be called “harmful to children.” Specific titles or genres of projects that have a chance to fall under the restriction are not named.

“Many foreign-made computer games promote the cult of violence, and cruelty, there is also pornography, obscene language, extremist and terrorist activities, and false information.”
Vladimir Kiselyov
TASS also reports that a proposal was made to introduce the identification of players. The Commission of the Council of Legislators on Information Policy believes that services such as Uber ID and Yandex ID can come to the rescue. In addition, Vladimir Kiselev noted that there is already a proposal to establish a ban on the registration of gaming accounts that are unsafe for minors.
Recall that yesterday Vladimir Putin signed a law banning propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations, gender reassignment, and pedophilia. The requirement of the law concerns, among other things, movies, books, and games. Fines from 200 thousand rubles to 5 million rubles threaten distribution.
