A Skyrim player spent 150 hours completing an RPG on hardcore with permadeath – he recommends playing as a stealth archer

One Skyrim player recently challenged himself to beat the game on Legendary difficulty with self-imposed restrictions like permadeath and other ultra-difficult rules. After spending 150 hours and losing four characters who went through the gates to eternity, Redditor Inward\_Perfection still managed to achieve their goal. His advice for the best build for the character is a stealth archer.

Be a stealth archer! It never fails, I just don’t really like stealth in games in general.

Illusion spells like Calm/Pacify are also useful and work regardless of difficulty level. The best stones on legendary difficulty are Lord/Atronach. Without magic and elemental resistance, dragons and mages will be annoying.

For PC players, I would suggest disabling kill videos using a mod. Violens has this feature, I just didn’t activate it for the sake of the “pure” experience I don’t know if it works on consoles. If you want to play with cutscenes of enemy kills or you can’t install the mod, invest a lot of points in health and compensate for low spellcasting/stamina with enchantments. At early levels, rely on companions or summons – they are not affected by difficulty.

These are valuable tips for those hoping to repeat the challenge. Especially considering other significant restrictions. Here's the full list of "rules":

No fast travel (horse allowed)

No permanent companions. If the game forces you to take a companion, like Serana or Companions, get rid of them as soon as possible. One-time quest companions like Golldir are acceptable for dungeons.

No excessive crafting/leveling of skills, the game should be played relatively naturally.

Stealth is prohibited for warriors

Enchantments that absorb health/stamina are prohibited

Abilities Prohibited: Fast Reflexes/Shield Disarming Bash

Infinite energy soups are prohibited for warriors

Unofficial patch to fix vampirism/recovery/free skill training exploits

Warriors cannot use summon minions, Rose of Sanguine is banned

The most important: cutscenes of deaths from enemies are included
