A new report confirms that Apple’s first augmented reality headset will also have a small external display.
A new report confirms that Apple ‘s first augmented reality headset will also have a small external display . It is not the first time that it has been talked about: analyst Ross Young had already mentioned it at the beginning of the year.
The display in question should have an OLED technology and will be used mainly to show the user a series of useful information, such as any notifications and the battery status. The small external screen will be provided by LG Display , while the internal screens to the viewer will use micro-OLED technology (with a higher resolution) and will be provided by Sony.
Recently the well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo shared some advances on Apple’s first AR / VR headset.
According to Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will unveil its first headset with an ad hoc event set for January 2023. Apple, in other words, doesn’t want its new product to share the stage with other devices. Therefore, its launch will take place with an event exclusively dedicated to virtual and augmented reality.
The analyst also anticipates the possible price of the product. As already speculated by several other sources in the past, the headset will not be cheap at all. Forget a product designed for the masses, the one that will arrive, perhaps, in several years. Apple’s first VR headset will cost over $ 2,000. It will be a product designed for an extremely demanding public. How demanding? Well, enough to want a product with 8K resolution, 12 cameras for tracking the movement of the hands and a processor of the latest generation (Kuo talks about the M1 Pro, other sources, however, expect an M2).
