Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden runs at 100 fps in native 4K and with maximum settings – but requires an RTX 4090

Focus Entertainment has just released a new action RPG from Don’t Nod called¬†Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden¬†. Even though Banishers runs on Unreal Engine 5, it doesn’t use Lumen or Nanite, and early testing shows the game running over 100fps at 4K at max settings on an RTX 4090 graphics card.

DSOG conducted initial tests using an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor, 32GB DDR5 at 6000 MHz and an RTX 4090 graphics card. We also ran Windows 10 64-bit and the GeForce 551.23 driver.

Firstly, when you first launch the game, the game will compile its shaders, so there will be no stuttering due to this during playthrough. However, there are slight freezes when loading new locations. As you can see in the video below, these twitches are not that annoying. And yes, they are also present on consoles.

At 4K at maximum settings and DLAA enabled, the RTX 4090 graphics card shows 100-130 frames per second. There is also support for AMD FSR 2.2 and DLSS 3 since release. Whether Don’t Nod will add support for FSR 3.0 with frame generation from AMD is still unknown.

The publication notes that given the Unreal Engine 5, the graphics could be better. While the characters in Banishers are well-drawn, the lighting looks dated. Moreover, many torches do not cast shadows. Fortunately, there are almost no problems with the pop-up, so this is already good news. But there’s nothing truly impressive in terms of graphics here.
