Capcom wants to release games for $70 due to rising development costs

Capcom intends to revise its pricing policy due to rising development costs. The company wants to release more games costing $70 (6.4 thousand rubles at the current exchange rate of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation without VAT).

The first title to be sold at such a high price will be Dragon’s Dogma 2 , which will be released on March 22, 2024. After its release, Capcom will study feedback from gamers to understand their reaction to the changes. According to company representatives, the community’s opinion will be taken into account in the pricing policy.

“Ultimately, we intend to be thoughtful about the pricing of our games by listening to user feedback,” Capcom reps .

In September 2023, Capcom President Haruhiro Tsujimoto called game prices too low. The top manager considered the increase in the cost of titles to be a “healthy option for business” given the constantly increasing cost of development.

According to insider Dusk Golem, Capcom is currently developing five Resident Evil games at the same time . Presumably, one of the projects is the ninth part of the series, which may be released in 2025.
