In less than six months, Starfield has lost 97% of players on Steam

Despite the fact that Starfield became Bethesda’s biggest launch, in the long term, the game clearly did not reach its previous heights. In less than six months, the space RPG has lost 97% of players on Steam.

After peaking online at 330,273 on Steam shortly after release, Starfield now has just under 9,000 players. For comparison, in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim the weekly peak reaches 25-30 thousand people. The game's overall rating is now "mixed" reviews, a step up from its recent "mostly negative" status. Naturally, Steam's numbers don't take into account those who bought the game from the Xbox store or play through Game Pass. But for paid Bethesda, such statistics do not look the best.

Bethesda has grandiose plans for Starfield - releasing an update every month and a half. The latest patch brought more than 100 fixes, although there was almost no new content - it is promised in the future. In addition, there will be new ways to travel - for now, the main burden falls on mods, although there is no official toolkit for modding yet.
