Let’s count Nintendo’s money: Almost 140 million Switch, 20 million Zelda: TotK and 12 million Super Mario Bros. Wonder

Nintendo has published its financial report for the fourth quarter of 2023. Sales totaled 1,394,796 million yen, up 7.7% year-on-year. Operating profit for the quarter was 184.5 billion yen ($1.2 billion). Sales for the three months ended December were 598.6 billion yen.


Total shipments of Nintendo Switch amounted to 139.36 million units—in the fourth quarter, the company added another 6.9 million consoles. Total game sales stopped at 1.2 billion copies.

The number of software sold amounted to 66.87 million copies during the reporting period. Recent Nintendo releases – Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Super Mario RPG – show excellent results. The first has 11.96 million copies, the second has 3.14 million copies.

By the end of the fiscal year (March 31, 2024), Nintendo expects to sell 15.5 million Switch consoles – the company has increased its forecast by 500 thousand. The forecast for software was also increased from 185 to 190 million copies.
