Major Starfield update out of beta

Bethesda Game Studios announced that the latest major Starfield update with more than 400 fixes and improvements has left beta and is now available on Xbox Series X|S. The update was tested on Steam for two weeks.



Main changes:

  • Photo mode has new poses and facial expressions


  • The penalty when rolling back in the lockpicking mini-game has been canceled – players are no longer deprived of one master key


  • With the scanner enabled, you can now open doors, as well as pick up items and resources


  • Setting a course on an inactive quest will now make it active


  • Added field of view (FOV) setting for ship in third person view


  • On PC, a texture filtering setting has been added


  • Added autosave when quickly moving from the surface of the planet into orbit


  • Ship UI update for smoother performance at high FPS


  • Improved particle illumination at night when using a flashlight


  • Various minor performance improvements


  • Fixed a rare issue where locations could be positioned incorrectly after loading a save


  • Holding RB or Alt on a star map will now show the names of all star systems


  • When using the keyboard, the player can now control their ship’s energy distribution by pressing the left Alt key and the 2, 4, 6 and 8 keys on the number pad


  • Edits to a huge number of quests


Starfield is available on PC and Xbox Series X|S, as well as in the Game Pass catalog. This year the game will receive a major expansion, Shattered Space.
