Media: Edgar Wright to film Stephen King’s The Running Man

TheWrap has learned that Edgar Wright (Scott Pilgrim, Baby Driver) is preparing to direct an adaptation of Stephen King’s The Running Man. Glen Powell (“Top Gun: Maverick,” “Anyone But You”) is up for the lead role.

Paramount Pictures will produce. The script will be written by Edgar Wright and Michael Bacall (“Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”).

Stephen King's novel tells the story of Ben Richards, a poor American who, in order to pay for his daughter's treatment, decides to participate in a game of survival. The book takes place in 2025 in the totalitarian USA.

The Running Man was already filmed in 1987 with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
