In Russia, the terms for performing warranty repairs for the PlayStation 5 have increased significantly, Izvestia reports.

The IRP company, which is the only authorized PlayStation service center in the Russian Federation, commented on the problem, explaining that the situation depends on the availability of spare parts, but in general, users who applied for a console repair can wait for two months or more.

One of the major IT distributors said that the reason for the increased repair time was due to difficulties in the logistics for the delivery of parts. Also, according to experts, the problem may be somewhat complicated by the fact that the PlayStation 5 is released in several revisions that look the same but differ in the layout of parts, cooling system, and other nuances.

A separate mass problem of the PlayStation 5 is the marriage of DualSense controllers associated with stick drift.

Interlocutors of Izvestia note that the problem turned out to be so widespread and often requires replacing the gamepad instead of repairing it, that Sony still does not have time to produce enough DualSense to cover warranty obligations.

“If earlier the ASC had a stock of components for the PlayStation and replacement consoles, now the services do not order anything in advance. The company waits for a specific user to apply for a repair, and only then arranges the delivery of the necessary spare parts from abroad.”

“Any problem that users of foreign consoles may have is due to the fact that even ASCs are now forced to work according to the so-called gray scheme. All components are somehow legally unavailable in Russia, therefore, in order to change any part, you need to wait for it delivery from China or other countries,” say the interviewed experts.

At the same time, lawyers remind us that the warranty period for the elimination of defects in the purchased goods, according to the law, should not exceed one and a half months.
