Need for Speed Unbound runs on PlayStation 5 with higher FPS than Xbox Series X

Need for Speed: Unbound has been in the hands of gamers for a few days now, and for the most part, Criterion Games has managed to avoid technical issues with the game at launch , which is now rare for multi-platform releases. This is confirmed by the Digital Foundry report .

Experts have tested a new race. The game turned out to be devoid of serious bugs, and the versions for Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 have their advantages.

The project runs in dynamic 4K at 60fps on both consoles and in dynamic 1440p at the same 60fps on the Xbox Series S. There is no choice of graphics options on any of the platforms.

The XSX and PS5 produce close to native 4K resolution most of the time, though the XSX has a slight advantage in this regard. The upscaling range on the XSX is from 2016p to 2160p, most often full 4K , while the PS5 version runs from 1800p to 2160p with an average of around 1944p .

However, the lower dynamic resolution on the PS5 provides a performance advantage, resulting in a near-perfect 60 FPS with occasional frame drops .

On XSX, the game also mostly sticks to 60 FPS, however it is quite common to experience 1-2 frame drops, and during intense night racing with strong weather effects, drops of up to 40 FPS can occur . In the case of XSS, the average resolution is 1296p with the same performance as on the older brother.
