NieR: Automata sales reach 8 million copies

Square Enix announced that sales of the slasher NieR: Automata from Yoko Taro and PlatinumGames have reached 8 million copies since its release in 2017. This figure includes digital sales and disc shipments.

There were 7.5 million copies in April 2023, that is, the game reached another 500 thousand copies in ten months. NieR: Automata is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.

NieR: Automata is the story of the androids 2B, 9S and A2, who are trying to reclaim their world, conquered by monstrous machines.

Mechanical creatures from an alien world expelled humanity from Earth. People are making a last-ditch attempt to take back the planet: they send an army of android soldiers there to destroy the invaders. Now a war of machines and androids is raging on Earth… A war that sooner or later will reveal the long-forgotten secrets of the world.

The game was also based on the anime NieR: Automata Ver1.1a, which was renewed for a second season last summer.
