Nvidia unveils 18.4 exaflops Eos supercomputer for AI

Nvidia announced its Eos supercomputer, a high-performance system for data centers focused on artificial intelligence tasks.

The importance of supercomputers has increased dramatically as AI technology has advanced. Integrating this technology into consumer applications requires not only computing power, but also the appropriate data center infrastructure like Eos to provide the necessary computing resources. And the new NVIDIA Eos supercomputer, which the company calls its “AI factory,” took 9th place in the Top500 ranking of the most powerful systems.

Eos is equipped with 576 NVIDIA DGX H100 cards, each containing 8 flagship H100 AI accelerators (4608 GPUs in total). To connect them, a high-speed InfiniBand network of the Quantum-2 architecture is used. Collectively, the Eos supercomputer delivers 18.4 exaflops of AI performance with FP8 precision.

The Eos architecture is optimized for AI workloads that require ultra-low latency and high interconnect throughput across a large cluster of accelerated compute nodes. This is an ideal solution for companies looking to scale their AI capabilities.

It is not yet clear what specific tasks the supercomputer will be used for.
