Sales of Alan Wake 2 since release amounted to 1.3 million copies

Remedy Entertainment, a few months after the release of Alan Wake 2, announced sales of the survival horror game. The title from the Finnish studio sold 1.3 million copies worldwide. The game hit the 1 million mark by the end of December, and another 300 thousand in early February.

The developers reported that Alan Wake 2 is Remedy’s fastest-selling game. By comparison, Control sold 50% more copies in its first two months than Control sold in its first four months.

According to Remedy, Control’s current circulation is more than 4 million copies. The company expects Alan Wake 2 to also be profitable for several years. For this, the studio will prepare promotions and release DLC – two will be released this year.

Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said the company is pleased with the sales of Alan Wake 2 . He noted that the game has already recouped a significant portion of the marketing and production budgets.

We will continue to develop the game to satisfy existing fans and attract new players, and we expect the game to continue to sell well.

The successful launch of Alan Wake 2 supported our other game projects: Condor, Control 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake increased the pace of development thanks to employees freed up after the release of Alan Wake 2 . We expect these projects to reach their next development stages in the first half of 2024.

We now have two established franchises: Control and Alan Wake, which are connected by the Remedy Connected Universe. The development and expansion of these franchises will be a key part of our future.

Alan Wake 2 will be released in October 2023 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. At The Game Awards 2023, Remedy’s game received three statuettes: for narrative, game direction and art direction.
