Samsung introduced Galaxy Ring as a way to simplify health tracking

Samsung finally showed off the Galaxy Ring in physical form at Mobile World Congress (MWC 2024) and revealed some additional details. As expected, the device is focused on health and well-being, the ring will come in three colors: platinum silver, gold and ceramic black. Sales are scheduled for the end of this year.

According to a Samsung vice president, the ring will track sleep based on heart rate, movement and breathing, and then give users advice based on this data. The company will also use data from partner Natural Cycles, which already does fertility tracking on the Galaxy Watch, implementing a key feature of Oura.

Galaxy Ring will also offer a new tool called My Vitality Score, which measures alertness so users can see if they’re at their peak productivity. Feedback will be available in the form of “Stimulation Maps” with science-based advice based on sleep and other data collected by the device.

The Galaxy Ring will be part of the Samsung Health ecosystem and will be compatible with the Galaxy Watch. This means that you can use both devices simultaneously to track your health and get better data. The advantage of the ring is that it is much more comfortable to sleep with.

We’ll learn more details in the coming months, including the exact sensor set, price, and launch date. Galaxy Ring will only be compatible with Samsung Galaxy smartphones, although the company plans to make it work on other Android devices as well. It is not yet clear whether the ring will work with iOS.
