Sweden extradited PKK convict Mahmut Tat to Turkey

Sweden extradited Mahmut Tat, who was sentenced to 6 years and 10 months in prison for membership in the terrorist organization PKK/KCK, to Turkey.

After Russia‘s invasion of Ukraine, Sweden and Finland took steps for an official application to NATO, and thanks to the agreement made between Turkey, Finland, and Sweden, the membership process of the two countries started.

Within the scope of the agreement signed between Turkey, Sweden, and Finland, Ankara requested the Helsinki and Stockholm administrations to return the names associated with the PKK/YPG and FETÖ in the country.

According to the information received, Mahmut Tat, who has a finalized prison sentence of 6 years and 10 months for membership in the PKK/KCK, went to Sweden in 2015 due to the prison sentence given to him and applied for asylum, but received a refusal.

Tat was detained by the police in Sweden a while ago, and was taken to the detention center in Mölndal. Tat, whose procedures were completed here, was sent to Turkey by plane.

The plane, carrying Mahmut Tat and taking off from the capital Stockholm, landed at Istanbul Airport in the evening.

Tat was taken from the plane by the police and taken to the Istanbul Airport Police Department. Tat, who has undergone a health check, is being detained at the Istanbul Airport Police Department tonight.

Mahmut Tat, who has a finalized prison sentence of 6 years and 10 months for membership in the PKK/KCK, is expected to be referred to the courthouse after the completion of his proceedings. (AA)
