US basketball player sentenced to 9 years in prison from Russia

In Russia, the court sentenced US basketball player Brittney Griner, who was on trial for drug trafficking, to 9 years in prison and 1 million rubles (290 thousand TL).
American women’s basketball league player Griner, who played for the Phoenix Mercury basketball team, was arrested on February 17 on drug trafficking charges at the Moscow airport for having cannabis oil on him. Griner argued in court that cannabis oil was prescribed by his doctors to relieve his pain after workouts.
