Now, the author of the original anime, Shinichiro Watanabe, has shared his opinion about the failed film adaptation. In an interview with Forbes, he admitted that he did not watch the entire Netflix series, ending his acquaintance with him in the first episode, or rather the scene from it, in which there is a fight with casino robbers.

According to Watanabe, this scene made it clear to him that this was not the “Cowboy Bebop” close to his heart.

He did not participate in the work on the adaptation, although he believes that he should have. He also added that the value of the original anime is now much higher.

“While working on the Cowboy Bebop adaptation, Netflix sent me a video to review and rate,” Watanabe explained. “The video started with a scene in the casino, which made it very difficult for me to continue. I stopped there, I only saw the opening scene.”
