When it comes to the process of adding an entirely new skill to a game like Old School RuneScape, community involvement is essential. The first part of this multi-step process began last month in December, when over 190,000 players voted with an 80% approval rating to go ahead with plans to create a new skill. This was a community vote record and big news as it will be the first new skill in 15 years.

Currently and through January 31st, the player community is being asked to fill out a questionnaire about what types of skills they want to see the most. Next month we will see images of possible skill types and then another round of voting will begin. Ultimately, we can expect this brand new skill to appear in the Old School RuneScape beta sometime later this year.

Speaking of feedback and community impact, the Wilderness Boss Rework update has become available. This process took several months, and the patch is a whole series of changes, including visual and mechanical changes to three bosses – Venenatis, Vet’ion and Callisto. Each of these bosses also received their own special new locations linked together, each with an entrance to and exit from the Escape Caverns. There are also some solo bosses, some new locations and, of course, weapons. These weapons can be crafted using attachments that drop from the overhauled bosses and the three new bosses.
