Sony may hold State of Play at the end of February

Well-known and fairly reliable insider Jeff Grubb hinted in his latest episode of the Game Mess podcast that a new episode of PlayStation State of Play will go live later this month. However, he advised players to keep their expectations low, as the games featured would be “low-key” in nature.

Jeff Grubb also stated that Sony may be saving some big announcements for a pre-E3 demo, which means Sony could indeed skip this year’s physical E3, as was recently rumored. As a side note, Grubb highlighted the difference between the State of Play and the PlayStation Showcase, explaining that the former is about small updates and specific games, while the latter is where Sony presents all of its biggest announcements.

It’s worth noting that Sony currently has two devices on the market, the PlayStation 5 and the upcoming PlayStation VR 2, which is scheduled to launch on February 22.

Sony’s plans for the future remain uncertain, but Famitsu recently spoke with Hidaki Nishino, senior vice president of platform planning and management, who revealed that 2023 will be an important year for the platform as the PS5 is expected to sell over 37 million units. by the end of the fiscal year 2022 (30 million units sold according to Sony data from January 2023).
